![]() ![]() Concentrate your kicks and blows on the bear's face and muzzle. If escape is not possible, try to fight back using any object available. Try to escape to a secure place such as a car or building. Black Bears: If you are attacked by a black bear, DO NOT PLAY DEAD.Use whatever you have at hand to hit the bear in the face. However, if the attack persists, fight back vigorously. Fighting back usually increases the intensity of such attacks. Remain still until the bear leaves the area. Spread your legs to make it harder for the bear to turn you over. Lay flat on your stomach with your hands clasped behind your neck. Brown/Grizzly Bears: If you are attacked by a brown/grizzly bear, leave your pack on and PLAY DEAD.Above all, keep your distance from bears! Help protect others by reporting all bear incidents to a park ranger immediately. Every situation is different, but below are guidelines on how brown bear attacks can differ from black bear attacks. However, being mentally prepared can help you have the most effective reaction. The chances of an attack escalate greatly if she perceives you as a danger to her cubs.īear attacks are rare most bears are only interested in protecting food, cubs, or their space. Be especially cautious if you see a female with cubs never place yourself between a mother and her cub, and never attempt to approach them.If this is impossible, wait until the bear moves away. Both grizzlies and black bears can climb trees. Like dogs, they will chase fleeing animals. Bears can run as fast as a racehorse both uphill and down. Do NOT run, but if the bear follows, stop and hold your ground.Moving sideways is also non-threatening to bears. If the bear is stationary, move away slowly and sideways this allows you to keep an eye on the bear and avoid tripping.Do NOT drop your pack as it can provide protection for your back and prevent a bear from accessing your food.Getting your food will only encourage the bear and make the problem worse for others. Do NOT allow the bear access to your food.Make yourselves look as large as possible (for example, move to higher ground). Therefore, bears often become aware of groups of people at greater distances, and because of their cumulative size, groups are also intimidating to bears. Groups of people are usually noisier and smellier than a single person. Do not make any loud noises or screams-the bear may think it’s the sound of a prey animal. Slowly wave your arms above your head and tell the bear to back off. ![]() Never imitate bear sounds or make a high-pitched squeal. A scream or sudden movement may trigger an attack. Continue to talk to the bear in low tones this will help you stay calmer, and it won't be threatening to the bear. Bears may also react defensively by woofing, yawning, salivating, growling, snapping their jaws, and laying their ears back. Bears may bluff their way out of an encounter by charging and then turning away at the last second. Stay calm and remember that most bears do not want to attack you they usually just want to be left alone.A standing bear is usually curious, not threatening. It may come closer or stand on its hind legs to get a better look or smell. Remain still stand your ground but slowly wave your arms. Identify yourself by talking calmly so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal. However, please check recommendations for each park you visit: recommendations do vary from park to park based local bear behavior. Once a bear has noticed you and is paying attention to you, additional strategies can help prevent the situation from escalating. Pay attention to your surroundings and make a special effort to be noticeable if you are in an area with known bear activity or a good food source, such as berry bushes. Most bears will avoid humans if they hear them coming. Keeping your distance and not surprising bears are some of the most important things you can do. Avoiding an Encounterįollowing viewing etiquette is the first step to avoiding an encounter with a bear that could escalate into an attack. National parks in Alaska created a safety sticker to share steps for avoiding an unwelcome encounter with a bear. ![]()

Some Gibson Thunderbird and Firebird custom finishes do come up, but of the 1700 or so total Thunderbird production (1963-69), the vast majority were the standard sunburst. Unfortunately, no shipping information by color is available, and these custom color basses are very rare. These colors were not advertised for other Gibson bass guitars, (though Pelham blue and Polaris White EB basses certainly exist). The brochure below, from 1963, details the original custom Thunderbird finish options for the reverse body basses. These Duco colours were available throughout their years of manufacture until 1969. Over the course of the 70s, the Japanese output improved dramatically, and in many ways these early 70s models are a low point for the brand. These new Epiphones were based on existing Matsumoku guitars, sharing body shapes, and hardware, but the Epiphone line was somewhat upgraded, with inlaid logos and a 2x2 peghead configuration. The Matsumoku factory had been producing guitars for export for some time, but the 1820 bass (alongside a number of guitar models and the 5120 electric acoustic bass) were the first Epiphone models to be made there. Like the Firebird III, V and VII, the Thunderbird models came with a leather neck strap.īy the end of the 1960s, a decision had been made to move Epiphone guitar production from the USA (at the Kalamazoo plant where Gibson guitars were made), to Matsumoto in Japan, creating a line of guitars and basses significantly less expensive than the USA-built models (actually less than half the price). Nickel plated hardware, single humbucker with volume and tone control. ![]() The 1963 Thunderbird II specs were as follows: Honduras mahogany body, through neck, unbound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with pearloid dot inlays. The short scale, single pickup Gibson EB0 was listed at $210 - broadly similar in price, but outsold the Thunderbird II significantly in every year the two basses were offered.Įven though this sheet was produced in 1963, and the Thunderbird II was listed in price lists as early as July of that year, Thunderbird shipping statistics suggest only two basses were shipped from the Kalamazoo plant that year.Ĭustom finishes available for the Thunderbird II were as follows: Cardinal Red, Heather poly, Inverness Green poly, Ember Red, Polaris White, Pelham Blue poly, Frost Blue, Kerry Green, Silver Mist poly and Gold Mist poly. I loved everything about it but never got to record with it with Tull though I used it all the time on stage as soon as I got it. Another surprise is the poor sales for this bass. Which was your first Glenn Cornick Late in 1970 after about a year of searching, I bought my original reverse T Bird single pickup. Considering the extra craftsmanship involved in producing a neck-through bass it is perhaps a little surprising that this price difference is as low as it is. At the same time (July 1963) The Precision had a list price of $229.50 / $240.97 for Sunburst / Custom finish. This was Gibson's first long scale bass, and their first real answer to the Fender Precision. The Gibson promo sheet for the 1963 Thunderbird II bass listed some specifications, and gave a price (accurate for the period July-August 1963) of $260 for a sunburst bass, and $275 in one of Gibson's custom Duco finishes. ![]() ![]() You can download and readily use it today. It’s critical to water in the powder within 24 hours after applying. There will be sections of grass that are turning yellow and then brown, and this will appear in late summer or early fall. It will be apparent in the lawn of the grubs’ existence. Dispense the powder every 4 feet in a grid pattern to the area of lawn or garden where you have noticed grub action. This way there is no powder lost to wind. ![]() It is best applied from a long cardboard tube. Once the grubs have ingested the spore, the spores multiply inside the grub causing them to perish, and upon their death, release even more spores to affect more grubs! After the infestation has dissipated, the Bacillus popilliae lies dormant waiting for another scourge of beetle larvae, hence, making it a silent, durable weapon! The method of application for this powder is to put it down in autumn when the Japanese beetle grubs are feeding and the soil temperature is still quite warm, approximately 65 degrees. It is a bacteria, Bacillus popilliae, which has been around for decades and is used solely for the eradication of Japanese beetle grubs. This is used on the lawn, in the garden and kills the grubs of Japanese Beetles. Do not hang Japanese beetle trap bags, the landscape will be annihilated and the gardener forlorn.Īnother strategy for war on these insects is Milky Spore Powder. However, because of the pheromone attractant, more and more Japanese Beetles will descend upon the landscape and massacre whatever flora they crave. They cannot resist the scent, fly into the bag and are stuck in the base unable to climb out. These are bags shaped like an hourglass laced with a pheromone that attracts the beetles. One mode NOT to employ in this crusade is that of hanging Japanese beetle traps. I chopped off the buds on my roses for the 6 week duration of the beetle infestation, and once the beetles had fled, I was able to spare the buds on the roses and I still had some sensational blooms for the remainder of the season! I have personally attempted this method and it was successful. ![]() This applies to both shrub and tea roses. The beetles LOVE to eat the blooms, but if they don’t have any flowers to eat, they won’t stick around. The eggs now are contaminated with the Neem Oil and are unable to fully develop into larva and thus die before ever reaching adulthood.Īnother method of protecting roses is as soon as the beetles are spotted, cut off the bud blooms on roses prior to them opening up. The Japanese beetles ingest the oil and pass it along to the eggs. Then prepare whatever fertilizer chosen and pour the Neem Oil mix in with the fertilizer and the concoction is ready to go! Particularly Roses have seemed to benefit from being sprayed with Neem Oil. ![]() Mix 1 teaspoon of Neem Oil with 1 quart of warm water, it must be warm water as Neem blends better with warm water. Also, the Neem Oil will break down fairly rapidly on the leaves, within 1-2.5 days of application, so again, there’s no threat to mammals, birds, people, bees etc… It can be applied at the same time as fertilizer, in tandem. The key is to spray the Neem Oil while the plant is not in direct sunlight as this spray may slightly burn the leaves. It can also be purchased in concentrate if a gardener desires to develop their own mix. To use Neem Oil, it comes already prepared and ready right off the shelf for gardeners to spray directly on the affected plants. The best part of using Neem Oil is that it only affects leaf chewing pests! Which means it will NOT HARM bees, butterflies, lady bugs and any pollinators! It’s also safe to use on edibles! It does have a strong odor similar to garlic and Sulphur, which acts as a repellant as well. The seeds of the Neem tree are what actually have the highest concentration of the pesticidal compound, Azadirachin. This product is a naturally occurring pesticide found in the Neem tree. One of the more successful liquid spray methods is that of Neem Oil. There are attack and prevention methods, both when utilized appear to be moderately to highly successful in subduing and nearly eradicating the beetles. There are now more proven methods available to gardeners to duel these incorrigible insects. The adults are only here in summer for roughly 40 days, yet the amount of carnage they wreak in our landscape is overwhelming. We can see them in our minds chewing, crawling, and decimating our Roses, our tropical Hibiscus flowers, our Grapevines and….our souls!Īs we know, these beetles take no prisoners. The very sound of the words, Japanese Beetles invokes irritation, frustration and gloom among Minnesota gardeners. ![]() ![]() ![]() Buy On Amazon Description Reviews (0) ken kunzeĪ: Customer reviews: EnergeticSky …ġ0 Best Ski Gloves for Women In 2023 - AlpInsider WebWIDELY USED:Suitable for both male and female of any age of teenagers, adult, elders.Suitable for Outdoor Ice And Snow, hiking angled terrain, icy roads, ice driveway, dangerous sections of trail (ice covered boulders, woods ice mud, etc.) Great for winter trail running, hiking, and ice fishing. Additional research can be gained in order to make them more comfortable in their enclosure. ![]() It must be researched in order to be adopted. Tyrannosaurus rex is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and was made available as part of the Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs expansion pack. It was one of the last known non-avian dinosaurs to exist, living 66 million years ago until being wiped out by the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event. Evidence suggests that Tyrannosaurus rex may have hunted in packs. Its long and powerful back legs suggest it was a fast runner across short distances and its tiny arms were surprisingly powerful for their size. It would have hunted a wide variety of other dinosaurs, including hadrosaurs, as evidenced by bones showing healed wounds from a tyrannosaur attack. Tyrannosaurus rex lived during the Cretaceous period across what is now western North America. Despite its large size, Tyrannosaurus rex is more closely related to smaller theropods like Velociraptor than to comparable-sized dinosaurs like Allosaurus. Tyrannosaurus rex and other close relatives featured extremely powerful jaws capable of crushing bone and extremely acute senses of sight and smell, making them effective predators. One of the largest specimens, nicknamed "Sue", was 12.8m (42ft) long and may have weighed up to 14 tonnes. Perhaps the most famous dinosaur of all time, Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest theropods, a group of largely carnivorous dinosaurs. ![]() |
